Fitness on a Budget

In the beginning of the year, I bought a Groupon for 5 Bikram Yoga classes for the price of two and I fell in love with it. By happenstance, I stumbled upon a deal at a Bikram Yoga Studio near my house for unlimited classes for 30 days. This was the deal of a lifetime! Needless to say, I've been going every chance I got it...3-4 times per week!

This marks my last week of Bikram Yoga and it's bittersweet. I really enjoy Bikram Yoga and it has definitely helped me to focus my energy, lose weight, increase my flexibility, and give me peace of mind; but I've lost too much weight (in my opinion) and the regular price of the classes are way too expensive. With the end of Bikram Yoga, I am focusing my practice on at-home Asana, looking into taking Ballet classes, and looking forward to training for a 10K. I don't know if I'll actually do a 10K race, but at least I'll be trained to do one, lol.

Both the Asana Yoga and 10k training are via iPhone/iPad apps! What's even better is the yoga app was only $.99 and includes over 300 poses, various skill levels, and pre-programmed lessons; and the 10K training app was free! So for less then $1 and some disciple, I'm able to workout as often as I want and do something that I enjoy.

So before you pay for that gym membership you normally let go to waste, disciple yourself at home via apps that are either free or under a $1 or, for non-Apple users, check out YouTube for some free lessons!

  1. I love yoga but I have not yet had the opportunity to take a class. I do however go to belly dance once a week and I love it.
